Power yoga is not fully introduced to us and hence we may not be familiar with it. The western version of Ashtanga Yoga is known as Power yoga. This was brought by the Indians. The term Power Yoga was given by Beryl Bender Birch. He was a teacher of Ashtanga Yoga and at the same time an author of Power Yoga.

The renowned Sanskrit Scholar Sri K. Pattabhi Jois was the person who brought Yoga to the west. The people of the west were inspired with his Ashtanga Yoga and also his philosophies. Practicing of Yoga Poses continuously in a series of exercises without stopping is what Power Yoga does. The practice is accompanied by the riding of the breath also called the Vinsaya. This enables you to make certain movements from one pose to another.

Vigorous exercises that challenge your physical and mental ability and concentration are included in the Power Yoga. This enables you to reach your inner power and to connect with that inner power. The difference of power yoga is that the poses are done in a faster pace than in the other styles of yoga. This practice is essential and helpful in increasing your physical stamina.

With the practice of Power yoga enables you can keep up a good focus for a longer time without breaking or distracting your concentration. Power yoga might be the right type of yoga for you if you need to fully concentrate with something. Modified versions of Ashtanga Yoga are similar to that of the Power yoga that is available at present. Power yoga was influenced by certain practices of Iyengar yoga and Bikram.

Power Yoga also applies the execution of the common basic yoga poses just like the Bikrma yoga. This is a good practice because even the beginners can do practice these poses. Power yoga also adapted some practices of the Iyengar Yoga. This yoga gives emphasis on the form and alignment during the practice session. The steps of Classical Yoga are aimed at by the Power yoga although it has been influenced by other yoga styles. Uniting the body, the spirit and the mind is the one of the goal of power yoga. The main objective of yoga is for you to be able to connect to your inner power. It also enables you to reach every level through the poses and practices.

It is better to know first if your health condition can withstand the power yoga practice before you try to do it. You should know that Power Yoga is done in a heated room. This is a perfect environment to increase the strength and flexibility, increase your concentration, release tension, stamina and tone in your body. This is achieved through the release of sweat.
